About the

artist

C. B. Hon is an artist whose work explores overconsumption, domestic expectation, and DIY culture through collage, assemblage, and drawing. Raised in a constantly evolving fixer-upper filled with thrifted objects, Hon draws from a personal archive of domestic materials and symbols to examine how material excess becomes emotional inheritance.

Working primarily with found and pre-owned objects, hand-drawn imagery, and vintage home-improvement illustrations, Hon uses processes of layering, repainting, sanding, and erasure to foreground labor, repetition, and imperfection. These materials and methods reflect both the physical residue of hoarding and the cultural pressure—particularly placed on women—to continually improve and remake themselves.

A recurring motif in Hon’s work is the dollhouse, reimagined as a fragmented or unresolved structure that resists traditional narratives of home, completion, and family. Through this lens, Hon’s work creates space to question inherited domestic roles and envision alternative, expectation-free futures.

As a former art educator, Carrie brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her practice, encouraging others to embrace their creativity. Her 2D works invite viewers into a whimsical world where nostalgia meets modernity, reflecting her unique perspective on life and identity. Through her art, she celebrates the beauty of diversity and the power of self-expression, making each piece a celebration of queerness and creative exploration.

Hon lives and works in the United States.
